30'S THE NEW 20: Skin care for the Grown and Sexy

In honor of my surviving my 20's (Whew the stories I can tell you about God's grace & mercy!!) and crossing over into my fabulous 30's I'm reposting this blog post! I hope you enjoy!! kisses!( I am not a dermatologist, so anything you try listed here you try on your own and I am not liable for anything your body rejects. thanks)

Skin care in your 30s and Beyond:

1.) Hydration is a MUST!!Inside and outside, but when you hydrate the inner the outer will glow. Drink tons of water!I'm still working on my water consumption, but when I'm on point with it my stomach is so flat!! Drinking 3 liters is the daily ideal. It will help toxins flush out of your system and give you an energy boost. Try sleeping with a humidifier (especially in drier climates)and using a thicker facial moisturizer at night that treats your skin's special needs (especially around the eyes which is drier, thinner and shows signs of aging fast).

2.) SLEEP!! When I don't get enough sleep I can see it in my skin and the dark puffy circles under my eyes. And I'm liable to fly off the handle for the smallest things.(Miami 2006. LOL) So UNPRETTY! A minimum of 6 hrs recommended, but 7-9 is better.

3.)MUST wear sunscreen daily!!! SPF 15 minimum, but SPF 30 or higher is so much better! You can wear your moisturizer that already has it or wear one under your moisturizer. Before your skin meets the sun it needs it's armour on. If your skin is oily or blemish prone be sure to use an oil-free or gel moisturizer.(Don't forget your neck and ears.)

4.) Eyecream should be added to your routine because the surrounding area may start to get dry and show sign of aging earliest. **Use your ring finger to pat the cream into your skin. NEVER rub! The skin here is very delicate!

5.) A good cleanser for your type's needs. (skin types: normal, dry, oily, combination, ect.)

6.) A monthly facial at the spa or an at home facial. I'll post a How to at a later date.

7.) Exercise and keeping your weight stable will help your skin stay taunt and firm. It will also help release the toxins in your body and give you energy Yo-yo dieting can effect the skins elasticity. And you know how sad a over stretched rubber band is! (Consult your doctor before starting any exercise routines)

8.) NEVER sleep in your make-up! As you toss and turn your pushing the day's make up and dirt deeper into your skin and just asking for a breakout in the next couple of days. If you are just so tired keep make-up removal clothes next to your bed just incase you have a long night.

9.)Be sure to exfoliate your face and body @ least 2x a week (I love exfoliating gloves) and moisturize your body right out of the shower to lock in moisture.

10.)Always, Always, ALWAYS (Did I say ALWAYS, yet?) keep a pumice stone in your shower and hit those heels 3x a week! There is nothing less sexy then someone's crusty heels cutting your ankles! There is no excuse for crusty feet, not even in winter months! Not even if your single b/c you should be taking care of you for you!

11.) Take a Multi-vitamin, calcium and folic acid(this one = healthy babies when your married, so take now!)I take Biotin for my her and nails too. ***Talk to your Doctor before taking any of these to make sure nothing enterfers with any other mediciations or health concerns, because again you're grown and I'm not a Doctor!!***

12.)Eating lost of green leaf veggies will make your skin glow brighter then a "Glow worm" (If you don't know what that is you're probably not an 80's kid, LOL)!!

There you have it Dolls, Take care of your skin and it will take care of you!!Remember you reap what you sow!! I plan on being in Essence's Ageless Beauty Issue one day!!

xoxo
