(This post was written 7/6/2010 just now getting to post it. Sorry.)
As I write this post I'm sitting on the Amtrack train #162 to NY.. riding backwards. Since the train was already full when it got to my station I have to riding backwards. This is a very different ride from my normal proper train ride as I watch the fly by me through the window. Instead of seeing where I am going to, I am focused on the things we're passing.Focusing on those things that are behind the train. Funny how so many of us spend our lives riding the train of life this way. On our journey to purpose and destiny riding backwards. We're so focused on past failures and victories that we can't see the amazing opportunities coming towards us.If we continue to focus on those left us those that hurt us, the job that did not recognize our worth, etc. we will miss out on those that will love us those that want to see us succeed, and heal, the job that will recognize our value that we add to the company.
If we keep riding with our backs to the future we will not see those wonderful doors of opportunity that we keep praying that God open for us. Most of us get frustrated and want to give up but if we would just change out seat on the train the nausea and headaches would end.
How do you change your seat after riding backwards for so long? You change your mind's focus. You get up and turn the opposite way of what you've been doing for so long. Watch your thoughts. When you want to think about the past push that thought out with positive thoughts of your present. If the present is too painful for you to think of choose to focus on your future and your goals, hope, and dreams. You don't have any? Get some quick! I recommend you get quiet with some pens and paper & write out the things you hope to accomplish this year ( you still have time), next year, the next 3 years, next 5 yrs, the next 10 yrs. Then write out some action steps for each of them. If this is too over whelming then just start with this year or this month. Now focus your mind on achieving them and nothing but positive thoughts about them. Remember "I can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens me." You'll soon start to fell more positive and hopeful and you have changed your seat on the train of life. So the decision is yours, do you want to to ride backwards and continue suffering from nauseous, headaches and a crick in your neck from the scenery spinning by you so quick you can't focus on what you just missed. Or do you want to focus on the good that's coming up in your near future???
Well, while you contemplate I'll have to excuse myself, a seat just opened up riding forward and I have to change my seat. xoxo Walla
